Janus Youth Programs has the following positions available. Janus is a nonprofit agency providing community-based services, including residential and shelter care, to youth referred by OYA and/or DHS, as well as homeless and street-dependent youth. We operate facilities in Oregon and in SW Washington. Services also include alternative education (Lents Education Center) and an Urban Agricultural program. Temporary Residential Advocate (Internal announcement) needed at Street Light Youth Shelter.  Expected duration of position is through March 31, 2012.  This position oversees nightly routines, interpretaton and guidance regarding program agreements, crisis management, and close supervision of residents.  Prior experience working with high-risk adolescents, especially knowledge of issues impacting homeless/street-dependent youth, preferred.  Beginning pay is $10.50/hour.  This position is open only to current employees with our Willamette BRIDGE Programs.  Please send resume and cover letter OR letter of interest to Mel Jett at mjett@janusyouth.org.  Position closes Friday, February 3, 2012 at 5:00 p.m.
 

 

Team Supervisor needed to supervise residential/shelter services provided to at-risk adolescents and adolescents who are in crisis. Position will include staff supervision, as well as recruiting, training, coaching and evaluating staff. The position will provide direct service to youth, including crisis management, client redirection, case management and referral services to clients and their families, and includes program development assuring elements of Positive Youth Development are included in the milieu. The position will also participate in a supervisor on-call rotation with other program supervisors to assure staff support backup 24/7. Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work or related field or equivalent education, experience and training is required. At least 3 years experience working with adolescents and their families is required, two years must include working in a residential setting working with at-risk youth. Experience in crisis management or case management is preferred. Bilingual skills are also preferred. This position is require driving and individual hired must have personal transportation allowing for immediate transport of clients; must also meet driving requirements established by the Agency. Relief Workers are needed to fill-in for regular staff who are on vacation, ill, attending trainings, or are otherwise unavailable. Currently there is specific need for relief workers at:
 
Substitute Skills Trainers who are available to work at Cordero.  Bachelor's degree in a social-services related field and/or two years related experience is preferred.  Beginning pay is $9.25/hour. This program is staffed 24/7 so availability to work a variety of shifts is preferred. Substitute Direct Care Staff are needed at Buckman to work a variety of shifts, including overnights.  These positions oversee the day-to-day (or overnight) operation of a residential independent living treatment program for males, ages 17-24, who are re-entering the community from close custody juvenile correction institutions or who are transitioning from such a program into more independent living arrangements.  Prefer Bachelor's Degree in mental health or social services field or related experience plus experience and/or clinical training in working with delinquent or emotionally troubled adolescents.  Experience working in a residential setting is strongly preferred.  Beginning pay is $10/hour.  Please submit cover letter and resume to John Weigel at jweigel@janusyouth.org 
 
Substitute Residential Counselors are needed at our CSEC program, a program providing service to Commerically Sexually Exploited Children ages 14 - 17.  The position will provide youth care, planning, supervision, crisis management, and both group and individual counseling.  Driving is required for this position.  Experience in a mental health/case management setting working with adolescents and previous experience/knowledge of the issues impacting youth who have bene sexually exploited is required.  Experience working with adolescents in a residential treatment setting is preferred.  Beginning pay is $10/hour.  Please submit cover letter and resume to Curtis Peterson at cpeterson@janusyouth.org.
